Digital certificate and Cl@ve

These are the two usual ways to identify yourself on government sites. An electronic certificate is installed on a device and lets you identify yourself and sign. Cl@ve is the shared password system.

Open the Justice page on certificates and Cl@ve (opens in a new tab)

The button opens the administration’s website in another tab. MiCitas does not sign in or fill anything in there.

Who it is for

Anyone who will file online. The Ministry of Justice distinguishes the electronic certificate from Cl@ve, and within Cl@ve a basic level and an advanced level.

  1. 1

    Choose the means

The Justice page describes the FNMT certificate with in-person proof, with DNIe, with video or with a phone, and Cl@ve registration at basic level (automatic video or letter) or advanced level (in person, with a certificate or DNIe, or video with manual review).

  2. 2

Do not confuse identifying and signing

The general access point explains that Cl@ve PIN, Permanente or Móvil identify you, and that Cl@ve Firma is only available for a few procedures. The FNMT certificate is used both to identify you and to sign.
