Recognition or equivalence of a degree
Royal Decree 889/2022 separates two things. Homologación matches a foreign degree to a Spanish university degree that qualifies for a regulated profession. Equivalence declares Bachelor’s or Master’s level and does not qualify for that profession.
The button opens the administration’s website in another tab. MiCitas does not sign in or fill anything in there.
Who it is for
Someone who earned a higher-education degree outside Spain and wants the Spanish university system to recognise it. Partial recognition of studies is a third procedure in the same royal decree.
1
Decide whether you need homologación or equivalence
If the profession is regulated in Spain (medicine, qualifying engineering and others in the decree), Article 1’s path is homologación. If you only need the academic level, it is equivalence, and it does not let you practise that profession.

File on the ministry e-office
The decree sets the procedure. The electronic application is on the Ministry of Universities e-office. Do not use the immigration appointment.
