Renewal of the authorisation

In the cases we reviewed, renewal of the authorisation is filed through the Mercurio e-office. The fingerprint appointment comes later, once there is a favourable decision. Do not use one form for every case.

Open the Mercurio filing help (opens in a new tab)

The button opens the administration’s website in another tab. MiCitas does not sign in or fill anything in there.

Who it is for

Holders of a temporary authorisation that must be renewed: non-lucrative, employment or self-employment, among others. Each information sheet has its own requirements.

  1. 1

Read the sheet for your authorisation

The sheets we reviewed (employment, self-employment and non-lucrative; the non-lucrative one updated May 2025) say filing is electronic, through Mercurio.

  2. 2

File during the two months before expiry

Those sheets say: during the two months before expiry. They also allow the three months after, without prejudice to a possible sanction. Filing on time extends the previous authorisation until they decide.

  3. 3

Pay the 052 fee for your heading

The non-lucrative sheet cites form 790 code 052, heading 2.2.1. The self-employment sheet cites 052 heading 2.2.3 and also a 790 code 062. We do not copy a euro amount because the sheet points to the form.

  4. 4

    Once granted, request the TIE

In the work renewals we reviewed, the card must be requested in person within one month of notification. Use the fingerprinting guide.
