Social Security number
The NUSS identifies a person to Social Security. It is also called the affiliation number (NAF). Request it on Importass. The official page does not mention an immigration appointment or a fee.
The button opens the administration’s website in another tab. MiCitas does not sign in or fill anything in there.
Who it is for
Anyone who does not yet have a number. It is needed before working. An employee’s affiliation request is made before services start.

Go to Importass
The page asks for DNI or NIE details, phone, email and address. You can request it at any time.

Identify yourself
Cl@ve or a certificate is the direct path. If you have neither, Importass lets you submit both sides of the DNI or NIE and a selfie with the front.

If form TA.1 is needed
The Social Security site says affiliation and the number are requested with form TA.1, and that with a certificate it can be done on the e-office.
