Fingerprints and the TIE card
The foreigner identity card is requested in person when you already have an authorisation that must be documented, or when a renewal is granted and you are notified. The form is EX-17.
The button opens the administration’s website in another tab. MiCitas does not sign in or fill anything in there.
Who it is for
Residents in Spain who must apply for the TIE after entry or after a favourable renewal decision. The card lasts as long as the authorisation.
1
Confirm the authorisation is already granted
Fingerprinting documents an authorisation. It does not grant one. For work renewals, the ministry sheet says the TIE is requested within one month of notification.
2
Pay the 790-012 that matches your card
Not every TIE costs the same. The first temporary-residence card is listed at €16.08; the card that documents a renewal, at €19.30; the long-term card, at €21.87. There are other amounts for family members and minors.
3
Book the appointment and bring EX-17
The initial or renewal TIE sheet lists form EX-17 and the fee receipt. The long-term sheet adds a passport, travel document or registration certificate, and a recent colour photo on a white background.
