Choose province and procedure
Barcelona, Madrid, València or another. NIE, TIE, arraigo, padrón, Social Security.

You open the official site, copy each field and keep the receipt. A reminder tells you to look again.

Digital certificate and Cl@ve
These are the two usual ways to identify yourself on government sites. An electronic certificate is installed on a device and lets you identify yourself and sign. Cl@ve is the shared password system.

Income-tax return
This is personal income tax, Act 35/2006. It is filed on the tax-agency e-office. The 2025 INE ICT survey measures that 38.1% of people aged 16 to 74 filed the return online in the previous twelve months.

Municipal registration
Registration on the roll of the town where you live. In Barcelona the official procedure we reviewed is free. Madrid and València have their own appointments. It is not requested on the immigration ICP site.

Fingerprints and the TIE card
The foreigner identity card is requested in person when you already have an authorisation that must be documented, or when a renewal is granted and you are notified. The form is EX-17.

Unemployment benefit
SEPE’s contributory benefit requires, on the e-office, at least 360 days of unemployment contributions in the previous six years. The official sheet asks you to apply within fifteen working days of the end of the job, among other cases.

Health card
The individual health card proves the right to care in the public system. In Catalonia, CatSalut issues it; elsewhere, the regional health service does. It is not requested on the immigration appointment.

Registering as self-employed
Registering as self-employed combines the tax agency and Social Security. At the tax agency you file the census with form 036 (the e-office has electronic filing). At the Treasury, RETA registration comes before the activity starts.

Exchange of a foreign driving licence
The DGT handles the exchange of foreign licences together with the other driving authorisations. Not every country can be exchanged: it depends on the country and on the licence being valid.

NIE assignment
Foreigner identity number requested by the person concerned. It is not a residence card or the EU registration certificate. The Police link it to form EX-15.

Criminal-record certificate
It shows whether the Central Criminal Register has a record, or not, on the day it is issued. Request it on the Ministry of Justice e-office. It does not allow you to work with children: that requires the sexual-offences certificate.
See where the list comes from
There is no single official ranking of the “10 most searched procedures”. This list combines the INE 2025 ICT survey, Barcelona City Council’s 2025 procedure report, and the procedures state e-offices repeat as the front door for people living in Spain.
Questions
Does MiCitas get the appointment for me?
No. Booking it for you, using bots or reselling slots is what we do not do. We prepare you and take you to the official link.
Do you store my NIE?
No. Your name, NIE and passport are encrypted in the browser. If you clear the site data, they are gone. The server only sees the subscription email, if you subscribe.
Does it work outside Barcelona?
Immigration, nationality and Social Security are state procedures. The padrón depends on the town hall: there is a link for Barcelona, Madrid and València, and a note for everywhere else.
Why are there sometimes no appointments?
The official site publishes the slots. MiCitas does not create them. You can save a reminder to check yourself.
Does the price include VAT?
€2.99 a month and €19.99 a year are the advertised price, with tax included in that figure. Stripe Tax breaks the VAT down from the billing-address country. A card is required only if you subscribe.
Can I cancel?
Yes, in the Stripe portal: cancel, change the card and see invoices. If you cancel, access lasts until the end of the period you already paid. The 14-day withdrawal is in the terms.
